When I started the LA Food Swap, I wondered whether anyone would actually come. To my delight, many of you are coming – bearing an absolutely stunning array of edibles! – and I feel privileged to witness our growing community of cooks, bakers, gardeners, and foragers. There is true meaning and joy in meeting our neighbors to exchange the fruits of our creativity.
Besides hosting swaps, I am now dedicated to helping other people – maybe you! – start food swaps of their own. LA is certainly big enough to support a multitude of swaps, don’t you think?
If you’re interested in learning more about community food swaps, how they work, and how to organize one, I invite you to a workshop at Artisanal LA on April 17th. I’ll describe my experience with organizing the LA Food Swap, answer questions, and share some resources for starting your own swap in Los Angeles or anywhere else.
